# Solar library

Shape includes **1,451 Solar icon families** by **480 Design** within the **9,200-icon catalog**. Solar, Shape, Simple Icons and Lucide all use the **same seventeen styles** in the library, CLI and MCP. Solar also retains all **six original variants per family**: **8,706 source variants**.

## Seventeen common styles

Every library exposes these same style IDs. Solar opens in **Duotone bold** (`duotone-bold`). Style changes render the chosen effect; they do not fall back to a six-style subset. The derived effects can change lines, material, silhouette, transparency or perspective. Original source data is retained separately and attribution continues to identify Solar and 480 Design.

Each family has one stable ID, such as `solar-accessibility`. Use a common style key to apply a Shape effect:

## Original Solar variants

The original six drawings remain available through exact source aliases and explicit legacy style keys. These keys are separate from the common seventeen-style picker:

`solar:accessibility-linear` exports the original Linear variant. `solar-accessibility --style solar-linear` requests the same original drawing. An explicit common `--style` overrides an alias's original variant with a derived effect. The native export retains the original paths, groups, strokes, fills, opacity and counters, apart from format conversion, local-reference namespacing and requested output size/colour.

MCP search accepts `library: "solar"`. `list_styles`, with or without an icon name, lists the same seventeen common styles. `get_icon` and `get_icons` accept those effects across all four libraries, as well as exact Solar aliases and legacy native keys for original artwork. Search results expose the common styles and each source's default. The CLI loads the complete Solar data for export; the browser loads drawing chunks as needed.

Solar icons are by **480 Design**, licensed under [**CC BY 4.0**](https://creativecommons.org/licenses/by/4.0/). Retain the creator credit, source and licence links when sharing Solar material, and indicate changes. This requirement differs from Simple Icons' CC0 and Lucide's ISC terms.

Keep the attribution notice supplied with exports. Derived effects may modify the original drawing; describe further edits you make in your credit. Shape's restrictions on redistributing its own icon set do not apply to Solar material under CC BY 4.0. Inclusion and adaptations do not imply endorsement by 480 Design.

The pinned distribution is `@iconify-json/solar` **1.2.13**. Its **153 hidden records** are excluded. Of **273 source alias records**, 272 point to active artwork and remain available as lookups; the hidden-parent alias is excluded. Aliases are not new icons.
